The one area where Carvin does skimp, however, is in the Wilkinson tremolo bridge they install. In fact, my PRS Custom 24 collects dust while my CT6 gets played instead. And there are a lot more sheep out there who can't see past mahogany and maple than there are people who recognize what other woods bring to the table. In the case of your bass (which is outstanding, BTW), Claro walnut and flamed koa are amazing woods, but not what you see on every day guitars. With a Carvin, there's so much variability, even within a single body style that it's impossible to lock one down. Some folks need to be able to say that they have a 2013 Trad Pro Desert Burst.
We have people on this forum who get squinty about whether a particular model came originally with a particular color combination and certain tuners, whereas a Carvin is a completely "modded" guitar (within Carvin's limits) that has little to do with a particular model. I think there's also a difference in the thinking about a particular model of guitar. The fact that a Carvin is such a good deal in the first place probably reduces the desirability of a used guitar that's extremely nice, but not QUITE what you would have ordered. It's not so much that the market for them is small, I think, as much as the consideration that you can customize your own guitar for not ALL that much more money and have exactly what YOU want.
